it has been completely impossible to avoid all the hype(rbole), especially around heath's performance.
i have decided to believe it is only going to be a pretty average piece of mainstream cinema that can pass a few hours while i'm doped up on painkillers and horse-strength antibiotics.
then.. maybe then.. i can be inspired and surprised and all those wonderful things that movie reviews and 'oscar buzz' can destroy.
Definitely made by the performance of Ledger as The Joker -- he made the film. One of the great screen villains to date, without a doubt. The movie itself, very entertaining but got a bit too busy -- too much happening without enough time to work out what's happening -- or am I just too old and slow? Overall, an enjoyable film. It is a bit dark, and quite gruesome in the way the violence is not so much as 'in your face', but makes you think 'eerrghhh, did that just happen?"
